Pimping up Potato Ovens in Dubai
Michael Brick, Director of Meris Food Equipment has just returned from Dubai where he attended Gulfood 2016. The show had more than 90,000 attendees from more than 160 countries.
"It's important to be ahead of the latest food trends internationally so we can share this knowledge with our customers." said Michael Brick. "I was able to source some new and interesting products and also noted interesting twist on a King Edward Potato oven. Some customers are using graphics on the ovens (like the leopard skin graphics pictured left). It's like Pimp my Potato instead of Pimp my Ride ! We are not sure if this will be popular with our customers but if you are interested please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org"
Rolls Royce of the field – King Edward
Here is a video clip just over 2 minutes that manages to cover the strange topics of a Welsh ladies antics, Tom Jones, Canadians’ lack of King Edward Potatoes and the Rolls Royce of Ovens! Yes strange, but interesting. Have a look at Sue Kingston’s story about ‘The Baked Potato’.

Need a snack? How about a baked potato
On a recent roadtrip near Gladstone QLD, drove past a van called Srumptious Tatties. Hungry, I pulled over for a snack. Happy in the confidence that it was going to be a great quality spud once I saw they cook them in our King Edward oven.
If you are hungry for a spud, be sure to drop by and see Cameron, Hannah, Lachlan or Taylah.
They are often located at 19 Dawson Road, Gladstone.

Hot Potatoes to suit all tastes
King Edward has been making quality specialised potato ovens in England for nearly 30 years. They are the benchmark in quality and presentation and not only cook potatoes to perfection but display them in such an appealing way that the potatoes sell themselves!
There are many models and sizes to suit all kinds of applications. The traditional look and quality potato that is cooked makes these a great choice for many applications and environments and the flexibility of toppings ensures you can appeal to all market segments.
In case you missed it, here is a recent Donna Hay recipe for baked potatoes in In Style.
Ricotta, Salami and Basil Jacket Potatoes
4 roasted potatoes
40g thinly sliced salami
1 ½ cups fresh ricotta
2 tablespoons milk
½ cup grated parmesan
½ cup basil leaves
Vincotto for drizzling
While the potatoes are cooking, place the salami on an oven tray lined with non-stick baking paper. Cook for 4-5 mins until golden and crispy. Set aside
Place the ricotta, milk and parmesan in a bowl and mix to combine. Using a sharp knife make a slit in the potatoes and squeeze the sides to open. Fill with the ricotta mixture, salami and basil. Top with extra parmesan and drizzle with vincotto to serve. Serves 4.
NOTE: Vincotto is a sweet reduced vinegar available at selected supermarkets and delis. You can use caramelised balsamic vinegar instead.
